Backend Software Engineer

You will build and ship backend software that brings AI-driven insights into real engineering workflows. You will create reliable automation and data pipelines that help users evaluate performance and optimize metrics such as power and efficiency. This is a high-impact role: what you deliver will be used by top teams to iterate faster and make better design decisions.

This role requires in-person work at our San Francisco or Taipei office.

Technical Skills Required

  • Proficiency in Python

  • Good understanding of system design, authentication, API design (REST/gRPC), and database schema design

  • Experience with Docker and have exposure to specialized container environments (e.g., Singularity/Apptainer) or orchestration (Kubernetes)

  • Experience working with CI/CD systems 

  • Experience using AI coding tools

Soft Skills Required

  • Intellectually curious and willing to learn new domains (semiconductors/physics).

  • Good time management and planning skills

Experience

  • 5+ years of software engineering experience. We view this role at Pave’s Senior (P4)

  • Leads project teams: You provide technical direction, determine key milestones, and keep stakeholders informed on progress

  • Startup mindset: You are comfortable moving fast and taking full ownership of features in a startup environment

  • Fast learner: You pick up concepts quickly and "pattern match" on past problems to solve new challenges efficiently

  • Collaborative execution: You work with the team to define priorities, suggest robust solutions, and excel at implementation

  • Quality obsession: You focus on speed and quality, helping embed those standards into the rest of the engineering team

Nice to Have

  • Familiarity with EDA scripting and integration (e.g., Virtuoso SKILL)

  • Experience automating simulation workflows (e.g., SPICE)

  • Exposure to analog or mixed-signal workflows

  • Experience with visualization and developer tooling
